CAMERAS clicked and flashbulbs popped as the “stars”, accompanied by a school band, posed and walked down the red carpet for the Genting Giant Mascot Party 2008 at the Genting Outdoor Theme Park.

The fun-filled event, themed The Wonderful World of Balloons, was hosted by Genting Theme Park’s own adorable mascots Tabby and Friends.

Among the activities lined up were stage performances, contests, games and photography sessions with the various mascots.

Resorts World Bhd Transport, Theme Park & First World Plaza operations vice- president Desmond Tan said that Genting Theme Park always looked at the element of fun when it came to organising events that would appeal to children.

“We’re having this event again after the success of last year’s inaugural party.

“This year’s party was held on a larger scale because we wanted to have an added attraction for the 10,000 visitors who would be at Genting Theme Park on Christmas Day.”

Tan said that next year’s party would be bigger and better, with plans for collaborations with the theme park’s suppliers and partners to make the event more successful.

“We’re planning to have a street stall concept that would stretch about 500m from the Genting Outdoor Theme Park stage to the Arena of Stars.

“Next year’s party will take on a carnival theme and be decked with a Christmas atmosphere. There will also definitely be more mascots and more interactive activities.”

He revealed that there were plans to enhance the theme park next year, which included the refurbishment of existing rides and launch of new attractions.

Penangite Ng Cheng Teik had brought his family to Genting Highlands as part of their 10-day trip to visit Malacca, KL and Genting Highlands.

“I actually extended my stay because of the mascot party,” said the 45-year-old operations supervisor.

“This is our fourth time in Genting Highlands this year. My son loves both the indoor and outdoor theme parks, particularly one of the car rides.”

“Dezhi really enjoyed last year’s mascot party. He even searched on Genting’s website for information about the event,” the 37-year-old KL resident said.

“He likes playing with the mascots and, if possible, taking part in all the games with them. It’s also an opportunity for him to socialise with people and have fun.”
